Faisal Najaf is a Kuwaiti contemporary artist, born in 1981 in Kuwait City, where he lives and works. He graduated from Kuwait University in 2004, and has developed an artistic practice known for its strong connection to Kuwaiti heritage and contemporary visual expression.
His artworks often explore Kuwaiti culture through texture, color, symbols, and layered compositions. Faisal’s work carries a rich visual language, combining abstract forms with cultural references that reflect memory, identity, and the spirit of place. His use of mixed media gives his paintings depth and movement, allowing each piece to feel both expressive and rooted in local heritage.
Faisal is especially known for works that bring together traditional Kuwaiti elements with a modern artistic approach. In his participation in “Glyph” at Den Gallery, his work was described as an exploration of Kuwaiti culture, rooted in tradition while remaining forward-looking. The exhibition also highlighted his interest in experimenting with contrast, including smooth and rough surfaces, textures, and different techniques.
Through his practice, Faisal Najaf continues to present a distinctive contemporary style that celebrates Kuwaiti identity while opening it to new visual interpretations.
