Description

White Arabic letterforms cascade down the canvas like words finally released, no longer held back, no longer searching for the right moment to be said. They tumble and twist with a kind of joy, loose and weightless against a layered ground of sage, teal, and deep forest green. This is Dexen at his most playful. The letters don't ask to be read. They ask to be felt. And what they carry feels light, like relief, like exhale, like something good finally said out loud. Part of his Love Series, this piece speaks to the moment love stops being a secret.

Abdullah Dexen
Abdullah Dexen is a Kuwaiti contemporary artist and Arabic calligrapher whose work reimagines traditional Arabic calligraphy through a modern artistic approach. His practice is known for combining expressive letterforms, layered textures, and a diverse color palette, creating artworks that move beyond readable text and into visual rhythm, emotion, and abstraction. Through his work, Abdullah explores the beauty of Arabic letters as forms, shapes, and movement. His paintings often transform calligraphy into contemporary compositions, where the line becomes both a cultural symbol and a visual language. By experimenting with color, structure, and technique, he creates pieces that feel rooted in heritage while speaking in a fresh and modern style. Abdullah Dexen has participated in several local and international exhibitions, and his artworks have been acquired by important collectors and institutions inside and outside Kuwait. His work reflects a distinctive artistic identity, positioning him among the Kuwaiti artists who are contributing to the development of contemporary Arabic calligraphy.
